I am so glad you're here! Buckin’ Bull Buddies is a book for educators, parents, and students interested in learning more about the families and friendships we make through experiences like bull riding. The dream of the book started as something that seemed out of reach, yet as I continued to share stories of riders I met in the rodeo industry, I kept coming back to the idea. This journey has brought me in contact with some incredible people who are passionate about the roles they play in agriculture and are eager to share their experiences.
Through my journey in agricultural media, I have found that there are many ways to tell a story, but this way has been the most fun! I hope this book shines a new light on the friendships kids can create through shared experiences, and that educators can use it as a tool to teach young students the importance of working hard and working together to achieve their dreams. Writing this book has been so much fun, and I cannot wait to hear what you think of it!
All About Me
I am Katlin Truelsen, a farm girl who I grew up on a diversified crop and livestock farm with my family outside of Dewitt, Iowa. Our cow-calf operation has captured my heart since childhood and is something I plan to continue to expand after college. Agriculture is a huge part of my life and I am passionate about the people I have met in this industry. Three years ago, I had the privilege to start telling the stories of agriculture though print and digital platforms. To me, telling these stories is just as important as being a part of production agriculture, especially when I can make them meaningful for the next generation.
Growing up, magazines about farming were always strewn about my dad’s desk and I loved looking through them to learn more about the people and places impacting agriculture in my area. I knew from a young age that I would be involved in this industry, but I didn’t know the opportunities I would gain from telling the stories of others. I have traveled all over the world, met remarkable people, and had conversations that have made me laugh along the way; all with the end goal of celebrating the individuals that make up this incredible story of production and passion. I believe in my future within agriculture and I am excited about where it will take me next!
